THE State Emergency Service, police and firefighters were practising their rescue skills at Flagstaff Hill on Saturday in their second of three combined rescue training days.
The teams were honing their skills in rescues from heights, depths and cliff faces. SES officer Peter Higgins said Saturday's lessons could also be used for rescues from the escarpment. He said while some of the exercises may be fun, they would be essential in a very serious setting."Some people will have to overcome fears of heights and abseiling," he said. "It's not only a bit of fun, but it hones their skills and a team building exercise for all three agencies."The next inter-agency training day will be held later in December and will focus on canyon rescues.
