It's never too late to gain benefit from exercise. For example, studies with people 65 and older who were given weights for a series of strength training exercises showed improvement in all of the following:

* Strength

* Flexibility

* Bone density

* Lean muscle mass

* Increased range of motion

* Increased co-ordination

* Reduced arthritic discomfort

* Better blood lipid levels

* Decreased back pain

* Increased metabolic rate

* Fewer gastrointestinal problems

* Less risk of falls
